ITS Services, Inc. and Science & Engineering Associates, Inc. Become Apogen Technologies
MCLEAN, VA, and NEW ORLEANS, LA, June 4, 2004 – ITS Services, Inc. (ITS Services) and Science & Engineering Associates, Inc. (SEA) today announced the joint company’s post-merger name, Apogen Technologies, and outlined the company vision moving forward under the new name.
The new company brand emphasizes Apogen’s inventive and resourceful approach in using technology to find creative solutions to customers’ challenges. Today, the company is extending this innovation in large programs with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, as well as several other important government customers.

Apogen, a combination of the words Apogee (the highest point of an orbit) and Genesis, means the height of creation. The new name underscores the company’s vision of “Aiming Higher” in providing customers with the right technology solutions to address complex, mission critical challenges.

Apogen is broken into two major business sectors, National Security and Federal Technology.
The National Security Sector includes two business units:
Defense Systems – primary customers include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and the Defense Information Systems Agency. Homeland Security – includes the company’s significant work for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and important programs such as the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) initiative and the US-VISIT program.
The Federal Technology Sector is split into three business units of roughly the same size as well as a fourth unit for the pursuit of large information technology outsourcing opportunities. These business units are:
Federal Civilian – includes current customers such as the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Commerce. Energy and Technology Services – encompasses the company’s R&D work with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at nationwide field offices and national laboratories as well as support for DOE’s headquarters activities. U.S. Census Bureau – includes information technology support for several Census Bureau directorates as well as tasks related to the 2010 census. Information Technology Outsourcing – includes current work with the City of New Orleans and new IT outsourcing opportunity pursuits.

Apogen also operates a Technology R&D group as a separate entity within the company, allowing the innovation of this group to serve the customers of both business sectors. This group includes classified and non-classified technology research and development.
